Osinachi Ibe: Of You, as in I Am Of You
Of You, as in I Am Of You chronicles the complex love story of a mother and daughter shifting back and forth over 25 years, and explores their spiritual connection and detachment. Through feminine surrealism and evocative narrative, visual, and sound design, the film captures the essence of each woman and offers an alternative expression of the Black mother-daughter relationship. Inspired by Ibe's relationship with her mother, this film is a meditation on the divine love between two women. It is an intimate, nuanced look at how a relationship ages and evolves; how it bends but does not break. Ultimately, this film is a visual poem and a love letter to Ibe's mother.
Written and Directed by Osinachi Ibe. Produced by Ruoxi Wen and Osinachi Ibe. Cinematography by Sam Sargent. Production Design by Arri Caviness. Edited by Xinxiu Liu. Sound Design by Jonathan Rowland. Composed by Alexis Kwaben, Catherine Nguyen, and Miranda Su. Dodge College of Film and Media Arts.
