Sotheby's is thrilled to present its first exhibition of Old Master Paintings in San Francisco, taking place at Minnesota Street Project from 1-2 November.  The exhibition will feature highlights from the upcoming New York auctions of Old Masters, including European paintings of all schools, ranging from the 15th to the 19th centuries. 

Highlights of the evening sale include a stunning and detailed River landscape on copper by Jan Brueghel the Elder, a pair of fruit still lifes from the 16th-century female artist Fede Galizia, and a rare portrait by the Spanish artist Velazquez, made as a collaboration with Pietor Marie Neri.  Also on view will be Nicolas Lancret’s Winter, one of the most important discoveries of Lancret's work in recent history.  The painting was commissioned as part of a series of Four Seasons and has been hidden in a private collection since 1889, known only from a black and white engraving.  

Old Master and 19th century paintings from The Otto Naumann Sale will also be on exhibit.  This exciting single-owner auction presents paintings from the collection and gallery of preeminent dealer Otto Naumann, including Dutch, Italian and Spanish masterpieces.  Amongst the highlights on view in San Francisco will be a beautiful still life by Charlotte Vignon and a painting of a young woman by 19th century Italian artist Antonio Mancini.
