1275 Minnesota St / Jack Fischer Gallery

Jack Fischer Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of a new venue at the Minnesota Street Project. Please note the gallery will also stay open at the Potrero Ave site.

Our inaugural exhibition will feature the work of Javier Arce; an emerging important artist from Spain whose work has been exhibited and collected in Europe and South America. He received his Masters in Sculpture from the Wimbledon School of Fine Art. Arce’s drawings are executed on Tyvek and deliberately crumpled so that when installed on the wall in a deliberate fashion of pulling and pushing the drawings take on a sculptural feel as they project outwards from the wall.

Javier Arce’s plan for this exhibition began as an investigation into the black motorcycle groups from Oakland in the 1950’s. This inevitably led to Arce's looking  the Black Panther movement of the mid 1960’s. Ultimately leading to a narrative encompassing the American West of cowboys, native americans, the poets Ginsberg, and Robert Creeley. Thusly the “other america" is encountered and in stark contrast to the sloganeering of  “Make America Great Again."
